SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Eagles have selected 2003-born Russian forward Mikhail Nizovkin with the 44th choice in the 2020 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

The 5-10, 163 pound forward played the 2019-20 season with the Vityaz Podolsk program in Russia. He recorded 44 points in 25 games at the under-17 level and 34 points in 12 games playing with the under-18 team.

The Eagles passed on the 104th selection, as Czech forward Ivan Ivan has indicated he wants to return for a second Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season with Cape Breton.

The 2019-20 QMJHL season is tentatively scheduled to begin Oct. 1.
