RIMOUSKI, Que. — Cornwall resident Jordan Spence had two assists Saturday as the Val-d’Or Foreurs defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-3 in a shootout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first while Drummondville took a 2-1 advantage to the third.
Former Saint John Sea Dogs winger Maxim Cajkovic tied it 4:44 into the third with Spence picking up the second assist. Charlie Da Fonseca restored Drummondville’s lead three minutes later but the Foreurs tied it on Jakob Pelletier’s marker with 26 seconds left on the clock.
Spence, a Los Angeles Kings prospect, drew the lone helper on the goal. The two played together in Moncton and were reunited in Val-d’Or following a January trade that sent Spence to the Foreurs. Spence has four goals and 10 assists in 12 games since the trade and 30 points in 25 games this season.
Former Charlottetown Islanders defenceman Xavier Bernard had an assist on Samuel Poulin’s goal in the first period for Val-d’Or.
Val-d’Or took a 22-3-2-2 record into Sunday’s game with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (16-7-2-0). Results were unavailable at press time.
