CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Ellen Murphy and Rebecca Chapman each had two tries Saturday to lead the Charlottetown Rugby Football Club to a 34-29 victory over the UPEI Panthers in exhibition play.
Madeline Cogswell and Janel Mackey each contributed a try in the victory while Frances MacWillam had two converts.
Rookie Emma Maclean and Emily Duffy each had two tries for the Panthers while Mia Fradsham chipped in one and Kendal Brooks kicked two converts. Many of the CRFC women played for the Panthers and some of the UPEI squad played with the CRFC team in the summer.
The teams will play again Saturday at 2 p.m. at UPEI. Fans are not permitted inside the facility, but many watched from outside the fence atop the field.
