Highlanders, Jets in under-16 ‘AAA’ hockey action over the weekend

SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cabot Highlanders split a weekend set against the Dartmouth Voyageurs in Nova Scotia Under-16 ‘AAA’ Hockey League play on the weekend.

On Saturday, Damon MacDonald scored twice and both Brady MacNeil and Angus Aucoin added singles to lead the Highlanders to a 4-1 win in Dartmouth. Jake Beardsmore had the lone Dartmouth goal.

In Sunday’s game, the host Dartmouth squad posted a 4-3 victory on goals from Beardsmore, Ryan Langlois, Owen MacDermid and Nik Xidos. The Highlanders had goals from MacNeil, Jonathan Dunphy and Logan McGrath.

The Cape Breton Jets were also on the road this weekend and were blanked 7-0 by the Basin Armada of Bedford on Saturday.

Lucas Fraser was in goal for the Jets who were outshot by the Armada by a 61-14 count.

Sunday action saw the Admirals of Upper Tantallon post a 7-1 win over the Jets.

Luc Sampson had the only Jets goal and Ben MacGillivary stopped 36 shots in the Jets net.
