MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — Reid Peardon and Joel MacEachern scored and Nicolas Jamieson stopped both shooters in the shootout Tuesday as the Hynes Paving Maniacs won their first game of the Island Junior Hockey League regular season.

The Maniacs defeated the A&S Scrap Metal Metros 4-3 at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague.

The Metros held 1-0 and 2-1 period leads.

Owen MacNeil scored the equalizer for the Maniacs with about three minutes to play. Jack King and Jake MacLaren also scored while assists went to Jacob MacPhee, Will MacDougall, Peardon and Emmett Lyons.

Luke Garnum, Grant MacAdam and Kayden MacLeod replied with goals for the visitors while assists were credited to Hunter Bradley, Jason Poley, Barrington Duffy, Nick Steele and Dylan MacDonald.

Jamieson stopped 45 shots in regulation while Noah Laybolt had 26 saves for the Metros.

The Maniacs improved to 1-14-0 while the Metros are 8-6-2.
