NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — Three-year-old pacer Johnnie Jack won for the seventh time in 13 starts, pacing to a new record of 1:57 to highlight an eight-dash card of harness racing Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs.
Driver Ryan Campbell railed Johnnie Jack from fourth at the opening quarter and advanced to second on the outside at the half-mile to challenge leader Brother John and driver Randy Getto.
Johnnie Jack cleared to the lead before the three-quarters and opened three lengths on the leader, before holding off a late challenge from Runaway Mystery and Harold LeBlanc Jr., to win by a half-length. Brother John stayed for third, beaten by three lengths.
Travis Campbell is the winning owner.
Ryan Campbell led all drivers on the card with a driving double, also winning with newcomer Ramset for owners Norm Fiander and Brent Bradbury in 2:01.2, just by a neck over Post Haste, with Red Dirt Fury in third, beaten by just a length.

Fans wagered $11,269 on the afternoon in North Sydney.
The next live card is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. when Northside Downs plays host to the Atlantic Sire Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies and the Nova Scotia Stake for two-year-old pacing colts.
