ESKASONI, N.S. — The Kameron Jr. Miners ended the first half of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season with a victory on Sunday.
Chad O'Neill had a hat trick to lead the Jr. Miners to a 6-0 victory over the Eskasoni Eagles at the Dan K. Stevens Memorial Arena in Eskasoni.
Bryce MacKenzie, Nathaniel Fuller and Nathan MacMillan added single markers for the Jr. Miners (5-1-1-1).
With the loss, Eskasoni's record falls to 2-5-1-0.
Jr. Miners' Cody Smith stopped all 33 shots he faced. Eskasoni's Seth Crowe allowed six goals on 46 shots.
Meanwhile, In Antigonish, the Strait Pirates were defeated 5-2 by the Antigonish AA Munro Bulldogs at the Antigonish Arena.
Sam Mattie had two goals and two assists, while Jake MacDonald, Fearghus MacDonald and Luke Baldwin chipped in with goals for the Bulldogs (6-0-0-0).
Jayden Muise and Jason Johnson replied with goals for the Pirates (3-4-0-0).
Antigonish's Cody MacEachern made 27 saves. Strait's Joshua Leudy stopped 43 of 48 shots.
The NSJHL season will be suspended until at least Jan. 1, 2021.
