MacArthur has three-point night as Summerside Western Capitals defeat Pictou County Weeks Crushers

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — Landon Clow scored with 1:56 left in regulation as the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals defeated the Pictou County Weeks Crushers 5-4.

The Caps held 2-0 and 3-0 period leads in New Glasgow, N.S., before giving up four goals in the first 11:31 of the third period. Colby MacArthur tied it less than two minutes later.

Chris McQuaid, Cole Edwards and Mark Hillier also scored as the Caps improved to 10-5-2-0 in Maritime Junior Hockey League action. Pictou County dropped to 13-14-1-0.

Cam Roberts and MacArthur each had two assists for the visitors while singles were credited to Ryan Miley, Owen Gilhula and Edwards.

Cameron Hough had a natural hat trick for the home side while Merle Putnam rounded out the scoring. Andrew Burden had three helpers while Abram-Village native Evan Gallant, Isaac Sooklal and Jack Morris each chipped in one.

Jacob Leblanc made 28 saves for the win while Lucas Park stopped 19 shots in the loss.

The two teams will play again Sunday at 3 p.m. in New Glasgow.
