STRATFORD, P.E.I. — The Morell Chevies are a win away from becoming Kings County Baseball League champs.
The team can complete the sweep of The Alley Stratford Athletics Sunday in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series. Game time is 2 p.m. in Morell.
The Chevies took advantage of walks and errors Wednesday to win Game 3 6-2 at MacNeill Field in Stratford.
Troy Coffin earned the win while Brady Arsenault was tagged with the loss in a rematch of the Game 1 starters.
Coffin allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out two and hit a batter. Logan Gallant recorded the final two outs.
Arsenault allowed four runs on a hit, four walks in two innings of work. Jonathan Arsenault gave up two runs on six hits in four innings of relief. He walked two, hit two batters and struck out seven.
Morell opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the second inning on Taylor Larkin’s two-run single, two Stratford errors, two walks and a passed ball.
The A’s cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth inning when Grant Grady hit a two-run single to left field. They were threatening for more when Nathan Jones snared a line drive off the bat of Jonathan Arsenault to end the inning.
Morell got one back in the fifth when Logan MacDougall painted the right-field line for a double scoring Cole MacLaren. They added another in the sixth following back-to-back singles by Stephen O’Shea and MacLaren. Jones walked with one out and Darcy Affleck was hit by a pitch to push across the run.
Arsenault hit a one-out single to right in the seventh to end Coffin’s night.
Gallant got Randy Taylor looking and Adam Smith to pop up to shortstop MacDougall to end the game.
MacLaren finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs while MacDougall was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Affleck was 1-for-3 with an RBI while Barlow was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Grady went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to pace the A’s offensively. Jonathan Arsenault was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk while Gabe Penalver was 2-for-3.
