P.E.I. loses to Koe and wildcard squad at Brier

CALGARY, Alta. — Kevin Koe and his wildcard squad scored four in the fourth en route to a 12-5 win in eight ends over the Eddie MacKenzie-skipped P.E.I. rink Sunday at the Tim Hortons Brier.

Koe scored a single in the first, stole three in the second and after the P.E.I. champs got one back in the third, Koe added four to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

MacKenzie and his team of third Tyler Smith, second Sean Ledgerwood, lead Ryan Lowery and alternate Aaron Bartling from Alberta scored deuces in the fifth and seventh ends.

Koe added three in the sixth and a single in the eighth.

The wildcard team from Calgary, which includes third B.J. Neufeld, second John Morris and lead Ben Hebert, improved to 3-0 and sits atop Pool B. Meanwhile P.E.I., representing the Crapaud and Montague clubs, is 0-2 heading into tonight’s 9:30 p.m. game with Quebec’s Michael Fournier (2-1).
