ESKASONI, N.S. — A wild scoring spree between two Cape Breton teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League ended in favour of the Strait Pirates from Port Hawkesbury.
Cameron Gillis’s six goals, including four power-play efforts and the overtime winner, helped the Pirates sneak past the Eskasoni Eagles 9-8 on Sunday at the Dan K. Stevens Memorial Arena in Eskasoni.
Eagles goalie Seth Crowe made 38 saves, while the Pirates Joshua Leudy and Michael MacMullen combined for 39 saves.
The Kameron Jr. Miners were off on the weekend but will next face the Eagles Wednesday night at Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
