The Alley Stratford Athletics took both ends of a doubleheader from the P.E.I. Youth Selects Friday night at Memorial Field.
The A’s won the opener 15-5 before taking the nightcap 7-2.
Tyler Taylor picked up the win in Game 1 with relief from Ethan Francis and Ryne MacIsaac. Brandon Langley took the loss.
Grant Grady went 3-for-4 to pace Stratford’s attack while Josh Myers was 2-for-4. The Selects were led by Colby Huggan, who was 2-for-3, and Grayson Laporte, who went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.
Brady Arsenault went six strong innings to earn the win in Game 2 with relief from Jonathan Arsenault. Jackson Sherren was the losing pitcher.
MacIsaac and Jonathan Arsenault each had two hits for the Athletics while Huggan again went 2-for-3 for the Selects and drove in one of the runs.
The Athletics recently defeated the Grant Thornton Tigers 10-0 in five innings.
MacIsaac earned the win in relief of starter Francis while Dominique Ryan also threw an inning of relief for the home side. Jake Beck was the losing pitcher with relief from Brad Mullen and Jeremy Keoghan.
Grady went 4-for-4 to pace the A’s attack while MacIsaac was 3-for-4 and Jacob Smith and Taylor each contributed two hits. Johnny Savidant and Ryan Ladner had the Tigers’ two hits.
