BIG POND, N.S. — About 75 riders flung mud around turns and got some major air time during the Loch Lomond Race Series at the Loch Lomond Motocross track on Sept. 15.

The riders range in age from four to 53 and many of the racers compete on the Maritime circuit. The final race of the season is set for Oct. 13.

The Loch Lomond Race Series is run entirely by 15 volunteers that lend their time. Sponsorships also play a key role in keeping the series going. Dave Shaw of Sydney, co-track manager with Theo Felix, said the event is not just all about motocross racing but is a family event as well.

Cape Breton Post reporter T.J. Colello trudged through the muck for photos and video of the riders in action.
