Make it two weeks in a row for basketballer Brooklyn Wright as a Memorial University varsity athlete of the week.
The Sea-Hawks post took female hours after averaging 25 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game as the Memorial women’s hoopsters split a pair of weekend AUS games with the UPEI Panthers at Charlottetown, P.E.I. That included a 30-point, 12-rebound performance as the Sea-Hawks won Sunday.
Basketball also produced the Memorial male athlete of the week.
Sea-Hawks guard Daniel Gordon got the nod after a 31 point, six-rebound game Sunday in Charlottetown as Memorial topped UPEI. on Sunday afternoon. Gordon, who averaged 21 points in two weekend games (Memorial lost to UPEI Saturday) leads the Sea-Hawks in scoring with 19 ppg, sixth-best in the AUS men’s conference.
