Canada Games team continues impressive start to Jubilee Trophy season

The province’s Canada Games women’s team registered another notable win in Breen Jubilee Trophy soccer play Tuesday, downing C.B.S. Kirby Group 3-1 at the Topsail Turf Complex.

The Games team sports a 2-0-1 record after games against all three of the league’s full-time members in the early part of the schedule, having tied Feildians and defeated defending champion Holy Cross.

Lauren Taylor scored twice for the Games team Tuesday, with Emma King Jesso delivering the other goal for the winners. Malorie Harris replied for Kirby.

The Games team is back on the pitch Thursday evening to take on Feildians at King George V Park.

That will followed by a rematch of last year’s Jubilee Trophy final, with Holy Cross taking on Kirby. Holy Cross will be coming off its first victory of the season, a 5-0 win over Feildians at KGV on Monday, when it got goals from five different players — Nicole Torraville, Jane Pope, Jessie Noseworthy, Julia Crocker and Maria Mackey — and a shutout by Jaime Crocker.
