St. Lawrence blanked by Holy Cross the day after losing to Feildians

Defending champion Holy Cross improved to 2-0 on the year in Johnson’s Challenge Cup senior soccer Sunday with a 3-0 win over the St. Lawrence Laurentians.

Harry Carter, in the first half, and Jake Warren and Owen Sheppard in the second scored for the Crusaders, who received shutout goaltending from Sam Hawco.

Holy Cross opened the season last week with a 1-0 win over C.B.S.

On Saturday at King George V, the Laurentians dropped a 3-1 decision to Feildians on goals by Jonas Lunde at seven minutes, Felly Elonda in the 31st minute and a team goal a minute after Elonda’s tally.

Stefan Slaney scored for the Big Blue in the 81st minute of play.

In C.B.S., the Strikers received two goals from Nico Boehme at 24 and 73 minutes, and one from Ranaldo Morris in the 30th minute to beat Paradise North Atlantic 3-0. Scott Budden provided shutout goaltending.
