Challenge Cup: Feildians, Games team play to 1-1 tie

Feildians Ernst and Young and the Gerry O’Brien Financial Canada Games team played to a 1-1 tie in Molson Challenge Cup soccer action Wednesday night, a result that provided something for both teams.

It allowed Feildians (2-0-1) to remain undefeated in the early going of the provincial senior men’s soccer season and to move into a first-place tie with the C.B.S. That Pro Look Strikers. Meanwhile, the Games team (0-2-1) picked up its first Challenge Cup point of 2017.

At King George V Park, Hynes scored for the Double Blues, while Thomas Osmond replied for the Games team.

Next league action is Saturday, with three games on the schedule. At the Topsail Turf Complex, the Strikers host the St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians, Holy Cross Kirby Group  and Feildians meet at KGV, and Mount Pearl First Choice Haircutters take on Corner Brook Steers Insurance at the Gushue Complex.
