Holy Cross women playing for national bronze medal Sunday

UPDATE: Holy Cross-Avalon Ford is playing Quebec 1:30 p.m. Sunday (NL time) for the bronze medal at the national Jubilee Trophy women's soccer championship in Saskatoon, Sask.

Holy Cross won the bronze medal last year in Surrey, B.C.   

Holy Cross suffered its first loss at the national Jubilee Trophy soccer championship, dropping a 1-0 decision to British Columbia Saturday in Saskatoon, Sask.

The B.C. squad scored in the 88th minute. Holy Cross keeper Jaime Crocker was the Newfoundland and Labrador representative’s player of the game.

Holy Cross is 1-1-1 after beating Nova Scotia 3-0 and playing to a 1-1 tie with Saskatchewan.

On Friday night, Holy Cross Kirby Group men’s team dropped a 2-0 decision to Ontario to fall to 1-1 at the Canadian Challenge Cup men’s tournament.

Holy Cross opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over Manitoba.

The Crusaders are playing the Northwest Territories Saturday night.
