It’s a Feildians-Holy Cross showdown

It will be a Feildians-Holy Cross showdown for the 2017 Breen’s Jubilee Trophy Women’s Soccer League championship.

Feildians earned their trip to the league final with a 2-0 win over C.B.S. Kirby United in semifinal action Thursday night at the Topsail Pitch in C.B.S. Morgan Fitzgerald and Liz McPhail had the goals, and Leslie Bradshaw provided shutout goaltending.

The final is scheduled for 7 o’clock this evening at the Topsail Pitch.

The Crusaders are the defending champs, having beaten Kirby United 1-0 last year at King George V Park.

That goal capped off an unbeaten season for Holy Cross, and snapped an eight-year championship run by Kirby, which had won the provincial championship under different names.

Holy Cross wasn’t quite unbeaten this season, but dominated Jubilee play nonetheless with a 13-1-2 record.

The winner of tonight’s game represents the province at the Jubilee Trophy nationals in Surrey, B.C. in October.
