Harris hat trick leads defending champs over Strikers

Malorie Harris scored three times as defending champion Holy Cross Avalon Ford posted an 8-0 win over new league entry Calvin Randell Strikers of Conception Bay South in Breen's Jubilee Trophy soccer play Sunday at King George V Park in St. John's.

Lauren Taylor added two goals for Holy Cross, with single tallies from Emily Bailey, Nicole Torraville and Kate Hickey. Hannah Noseworthy had the shutout.

It was the second lopsided shutout win for the Crusaders to start the season. They had blanked Mount Pearl 12-0 in the league's season-opener on Thursday.

It was the actually the third such result early in the 2019 Jubilee Trophy schedule; Feildians had downed the Strikers 9-0 in a second game on opening day.

League action continues this evening as Feildians play Mount Pearl. The difference is that the 6 p.m. matchup is at the Gushue Complex, making it the first Jubilee Trophy game at the Mount Pearl facility this season.
