Newfoundland and Labrador’s Angel Hiltz-Morrell will wrestle for a medal Friday at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

sThe 15-year-old from Avondale finished with a 4-1 individual record in team competition over the last two days at the Axworthy Health & RecPlex on the University of Winnipeg campus.
Hiltz-Morrell, who wrestles in the 84-kilogram division, lost her first match to a Manitoba opponent, but finished strongly. Her last three wins, over wrestlers from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Nova Scotia were by pins.
As a result, she advances to the semifinal round in her division Friday morning, with the two semifinal winners advancing to a gold-medal matchup Friday night. The losers will meet in the bronze-medal match.
As of Thursday afternoon, and with just two full days remaining in Games competition, Newfoundland had yet to win a medal in Winnipeg.
