ST. ANTHONY, N.L. — Two of St. Anthony’s best and brightest young figure skaters are heading to provincials.

Northern Blades Figure Skating Club members Basia Krupski, 13, and Maggie Power, 10, have qualified for the Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Skating Championship on Feb. 15-17 in Gander.

This is the second year in a row that Krupski has qualified and the first time for Power.

Both Krupski and Power have been skating since they were three-years-old, their parents say.

Both skaters will represent Western NL after qualifying through the divisional, held in Botwood on Jan. 19-20.

The top eight qualifies in each age group — Power took home the silver medal finishing second, while Krupski qualified finishing eighth.

Krupski will compete in the Star Five Under-13 category while Power will skate in Star Four Under-10 in Gander.

The two skaters extended thanks to their coaches at the Northern Blades Figure Skating Club for all they’ve been taught.
