Tyler Hennessey drove in half his team’s run as the Riverdale Storage Storm downed Holy Cross 6-2 in St. John’s Molson intermediate baseball Tuesday night at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
Hennessey’s three RBIs came on two hits and a double and backed the pitching of starter and winner Daniel Toope and Isaac Doyle, who tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Crusaders pitcher Danny Rice was tagged with a complete-game loss.
Nick Evans had two hits and scored two runs for Holy Cross.
In Tuesday’s other intermediate game at St. Pat’s, the OMT Shamrocks defeated the Sundance Feildians 15-5 in a game shortened to six innings by the 10-run mercy rule.
Dylan MacKenzie reached base five times for the Shammies on two singles, two doubles and a walk, scoring three runs in the process.
Josh Fifield scattered five hits for the win, with Feildians starter Alex Curtis taking the loss.
A third game, this one played at Smallwood Field in Mount Pearl, also was abbreviated by the mercy rule.
In that one, the Knights blasted the Gonzaga Vikings 19-3 in five innings, with Matt Janes tossing a three-hitter for the win.
Nik French, Alex French and Steve Crooks each had two hits for the Knights.
Jared Milley, the first of three Vikings pitchers, took the loss.
