Colm O’Neill had a goal and two assists as the Mount Pearl Blades downed the Trinity-Placentia Flyers 5-2 in St. John’s Junior Hockey League play Sunday at the Glacier.

It was the second loss in as many days for the Flyers, who had lost 6-1 to the St. John’s Caps Saturday night at Twin Rinks, where Dylan McKenzie led the Caps’ attack with two goals

In another game Saturday, Cody Barron scored in overtime as the Avalon Capitals, battling to stay out of the basement, slipped past the front-running CBR Renegades 4-3.

The Capitals forced the extra session at the C.B.S. Arena with a pair of third-period

Mark Barrett had a pair of goals as the C.B.N. Stars beat the Northeast Eagles 7-3 at Bay Arena. James Locke and Ryan Ricketts both had two assists for the Eagles … At the Southern Shore Arena, the Breakers scored three times in the third period, capped by Blake Dalton’s game-winning goal, to beat the Caps 5-4.
