It was quite a week for hockey player Nick Gosse of Paradise.
Chiefly, Gosse played a large role in helping the St. John’s Maple Leafs upset the Western Kings to win the Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League championship.
He scored three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, Sunday as the Leafs beat the Western Kings to clinch the final in five games. He had an assist Saturday in a 3-1 St. John’s win, and scored twice and added an assist in a 4-2 Leafs win Friday.
In high school play with his Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies squad, Gosse registered two goals and two assists Monday as the Huskies beat St. Kevin’s Mavericks 5-1 in the deciding game of the semifinals. In Game 1 of the metro league final, he scored Mount Pearl’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the O’Donel Patriots.
