The Western Kings played host to the other three clubs in the Newfoundland and Labrador Bantam AAA Hockey League over the weekend at the Corner Brook Civic Centre, but things didn’t go well for the home team.

The Kings capped a three-loss weekend with a 7-1 defeat at the hands of the TriPen Ice on Sunday.

Owen Sparkes ignited the offence for the Ice, scoring four times, while Kyle Fowler, Dylan Broomfield and Damian Laundry added the other markers.

Jonathan Kettle scored the lone goal for the Kings, who actually led 1-0 until the 7:55 mark of the first period when the Ice took over.

Ashton Reid was the winning netminder, while Nikolas Hillier took the loss, allowing seven goals on 45 shots. Evan Payne stopped 14 of 14 in relief.

On Saturday afternoon, the Kings were thumped 8-1 by the St. John’s Hitmen.

Ronan Whitten picked up a pair of goals for the victors, while Andrew Veitch, Justin Hepditch, Owen Wright, Michael Fallows, Seamus Goodyear and Matteo Rotondi also found the back of the net.

Kettle again was the lone marksman for the Kings.

Evan Payne took the loss in goal, with Cruz Loughlin recording the victory.

The Kings opened the three-game weekend set on Saturday morning, dropping a 4-3 decision to the TriCom Thunder.

The Thunder got goals from Braedy Walsh, Michael Strapp, Tanner Hawkins and Reegan Hiscock in the win.

Colby House scored twice in the losing cause, with Mckenzie Blanchard collecting the other goal.

Adam Baggs earned the goaltending win over Hillier.
