Young local bowlers got a chance to cash in on their talents over the weekend as the Newfoundland Bowling Tour hosted the 2019 Body Quest Youth Classic this past weekend at Paradise Bowl.

The NBT is best known for its adult cash tournaments, but in this case, a similar event was offered for 50 of the top youth bowlers from across the province.

The bowlers competed in a qualification round, with the top eight advancing to the playoff bracket.

Fifteen-year-old Nathan Parkinson, who bowls in the Mount Pearl-Paradise youth league, outlasted the other 49 competitors to claim the title.  Parkinson bowled a 245 in the final to defeat Carter Belbin of Plaza Bowl in St. John’s, who rolled a 207.

"Our goal was to offer the youth bowlers in our province the same experience as we give our adult bowlers,” said NBT co-founder Shane Chafe. “We wanted to give them the full spotlight for this event and let them perform on the big stage, and they didn’t disappoint. The bowling was spectacular.”

The Tour next event, the 2019 Body Quest Classic, will be held in two weeks at Holiday Lanes in St. John’s, where the NBT expects to surpass $50,000 in cash payouts competitors.

To register or for more information on the Classic, contact the NBT through email ([email protected]) or on Facebook.
