ST. JOHN'S: Active storm track stretches across the region

All eyes are on a developing storm that is currently taking shape off the California coast; it has a long way to go. In the meantime, two fast-moving clipper-like systems will cross the region with less than 5 cm of snow each time. Behind each weak disturbance, we can expect a 24-hour blast of cold. The Sunday storm will work its way in from west to east reaching Newfoundland late Sunday night. Snowfall totals could be as high as 25 to 35 cm for central and northern NB. On the warm side of the low, I wouldn’t be surprised to see 50 mm of rain. Many will experience a messy changeover from snow to rain. Cold air behind the low will bring the rain back to snow Monday into Tuesday.
