“Out on the Mira, on warm afternoons…”
Allister MacGillivray might have been inspired by a serene scene like this one when he penned “Song for the Mira”. He wrote the classic in 1973. It’s about longing for the serenity of the Mira River region of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
The gorgeous photo was taken last Friday by Philip Capstick.
John Allan Cameron recorded it on his 1976 album Weddings, Wakes & Other Things. The lovely song has been recorded more than 300 times and has been translated into Scots Gaelic, Italian, French, Dutch, Mi’kmaq and Japanese.
