CINDY'S SNAPSHOT: Eye on the ball

Eye on the ball!

Richard Berens said it was quite a sight! Richard snapped this photo with his iPhone at noon, last Wednesday while golfing with friends at the Fort View Golf Course in Annapolis Royal, NS.

Scientists call this a 22-degree halo because the radius is approximately 22 degree from the sun, but they are commonly referred to as sun or solar halos. Halos around the sun or moon are caused by high, thin cirrus clouds overhead. Tiny ice crystals in Earth's atmosphere create the halos; they do it by refracting and reflecting the light.
