CINDY'S SNAPSHOT: Mourning dove in Cole Harbour, N.S.

This mourning dove was ready for her close-up. This beauty was spotted by Lee Edgar in Cole Harbour, N.S. It’s hard to say if it’s male or female – they are very similar in appearance. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs or young per brood. I love the whistling sound that their wings make on take-off and landing. Did you know that, once airborne, the mourning dove can fly at speeds of speeds up to 88 km/h?
