Last Tuesday, Lee Edgar emailed a few sunset photos taken from the Wharf at Fishermen's Cove in Eastern Passage, N.S. 

It wasn't easy to pick just one. 

I finally settled on this stunning scene. 

I love the outline of the city of Halifax in the background, the pleasure craft making its way to shore after a day on the water. 

You can almost feel the mid-July heat.

Michele and Dave Robson make the journey to Nova Scotia every year from Brunswick, Georgia. This scene, that could easily be on an artist’s canvas, was captured at Mitchel Bay on the province’s Eastern Shore. They say it’s the reason they make the annual journey from the southern United States.

Can you say gorgeous? Ronald O’Toole sent this ‘Sunrise at the Castle’ photo he took on Sept. 17 at Logy Bay, N.L. The sun’s rays look like the petals of a flower as it rises out of the Atlantic Ocean. Logy Bay is located near Torbay and is about 10 minutes from downtown St. John’s.

Louise Campbell of Charlottetown sent this photo she calls ‘Spilt Milk Clouds’ over P.E.I. She saw this cloud formation the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 18. She said the clouds look like milk sloshing. It’s one of Mother Nature’s beautiful things.

Judy Doyle sent this photo of deer visiting her property on Cape Breton’s Mira River on Monday morning. She said deer are frequent visitors to the area and yesterday she counted as many as seven walking along the river near her home. The deer silhouetted against the morning sun are a beautiful sight.

Photos are fabulous, but there's something special about an original work of art. This lovely island scene was created by Malliga Nagarajan, of Charlottetown. It's an oil pastel crayon drawing with a reflective late summer vibe. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent, Malliga.

When hurricane Larry made landfall on the west side of the Avalon on Sept. 11, many things were blown around. Once the storm cleared, Don Simms found this lovely butterfly resting on a sedum in his yard in Mount Pearl, N.L. I wasn't sure what kind of butterfly it was, so I looked it up. Here's what I found. This beauty is a Vanessa Atalanta or red admiral: a medium-sized butterfly with black wings, reddish bands, and white spots.
