Regional Weather Forecast

The third fall storm in less than a week will make its way into our region Friday night. The centre of the low is expected to track just south of the Avalon. Colder air in the northwest quadrant of the storm will reach back from the storm’s centre; snowfall totals will be in the 5 to 10 cm range away from the coast. Closer to the centre of the storm, the snow will change to rain Saturday morning. There will also be a mixing line between the warm and cold air; a brief period of ice pellets and freezing rain is expected. The south-east wind will pick up ahead of the storm, gusting to 60 km/h. As the low pulls away, the wind will turn to the north-west and gust to 70 km/h late Saturday. That drier wind will serve up a partly sunny but breezy and cool day Sunday.
