Regional Weather Forecast

Another powerful fall storm racing across the region has triggered wind warnings, snowfall and winter storm warnings for St. John's and parts and Newfoundland. By Wednesday morning, strong south-east winds will turn to the west and gust as high as 90 km/h. The system is moving very quickly, but dangerous travel conditions behind the storm will linger thanks to that very strong west then north-west wind. The cold wind will bring falling temperatures, significant wind chill and onshore snow. Locally, snow amounts could reach 5 o 10 cm in the wind-driven squalls along the west facing coastlines. The break between systems will be brief as another fall storm is expected to track south of the Avalon over the weekend with as much 15 to 20 cm new snow.
