If you're going to put down sod, do it now. The heat and humidity will break this weekend as a series of weather systems approach Atlantic Canada. By Wednesday, there could be as much as 60 mm of rain in some areas.
The first couple of systems will be held west of our region by a blocking Bermuda High; we can expect showers, but not a steady rain.
By Sunday night, the high will back in along the eastern seaboard and that slight shift will allow a line of steady rain to set up across the region.
The new month will get off to a cool, wet start, but not everywhere. Mother Nature is going to play favourites by holding most of the wet weather over eastern Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and western Newfoundland and Labrador. Temperatures are expected to drop to well below seasonal values early in the week.
