Despite the wild wind and pockets of heavy rain moving through, temperatures across the region are quite spring-like today, averaging a few degrees above normal. As the strengthening weather maker pushes out to sea, the wind will shift to the west, then to the northwest on Saturday. That’s going to bring gradual clearing and falling temperatures from west to east through the day. We are going to suffer a setback on Sunday. A strong northerly circulation on the leading edge of a fair-weather system will pull cold air down across all of Atlantic Canada. Not only will our air temperatures be unseasonably cold, but the wind will be icy. If you plan on getting outside for a breath of fresh air, you’ll need your winter coat; wind chill values will range from –10 to –18 C most of the day. Milder weather will return early in the week as a low-pressure system tracks up along the U.S. east coast. We’ll likely get some wet spring snow as well as spring showers as the system slides offshore.
