I went for the cute, Irish alliteration but I don't know if many of you find this very late winter storm amusing. Last night's rain has changed to snow across the Maritimes; that trend will follow late today and tonight across Newfoundland and Labrador.
The icy north wind in the wake of the front will pull in colder air as the day goes on. On top of serving up feel-like temperatures between -10 and -18, the wind will blow the snow around, causing whiteout conditions in open areas.
Thankfully, the system is not expected to linger. The snow will wrap up, west to east across the Maritimes this afternoon, and tomorrow morning over eastern Newfoundland and Labrador.
Spring officially gets underway at 6:36 a.m. ADT or 7:06 a.m. NDT on Saturday. After a breezy, fresh start to the first weekend of the new season, Sunday looks lovely, as do the next few days. Get set for sunshine and above normal temperatures until at least midweek.
