No doubt you've noticed that the nights are getting longer, so it goes without saying, the days are getting shorter.
It varies across the region of course, but on average, we've lost about 4 ½ hours of daylight since the end of June. I guess that's why it's more important to get out there when the October sun is lighting up our splendid fall landscape. For many, that is the case today but it won't be the same tomorrow.
A developing area of low pressure is forecast to track up along a frontal line that's already pushing rain into northwestern New Brunswick. The rain will eventually work its way across the Maritimes on Saturday, and Newfoundland and eastern Labrador on Sunday.
The system is expected to weaken as it heads eastward into a dry system over the Labrador Sea. Ahead of the system, the mild south wind will gust to 40 km/h before coming around to the west and cooling things down Sunday afternoon.
A narrow ridge of high pressure will follow the windy, wet weather maker and serve up a pleasant end to the weekend. I don't see a lot of wet weather for the first half of next week; another offshore high will keep the next two systems well to the north. Have a wonderful weekend.
