In a perfect world, our rain would fall during the week and at night.

It's been so dry this month that I doubt if anyone will object to a little weekend rain. The wet weather systems have been held over Western Canada for some time now by a blocking area of high pressure over the Labrador Sea.

By the end of the day Saturday, a developing rain system will move into the western edge of the high then slowly sink southward, unable to continue its western trek.

It will get close enough to bring rain on Sunday and showers that should linger into Monday. As far as rainfall totals go, it might not be enough but we'll take the 20 to 30 mm that should fall over a couple of days.

By midweek, a strong fair-weather system will build in from the west with clearing skies and a return to warmer than normal weather for the first few days of July.
