The eighth-generation Corvette has had a tumultuous first year, which, after a series of unfortunate events and despite Chevrolet’s best efforts, still made the 2020 model year one of the shortest ever production runs for the sports car.

But for those who missed out on the first year, don’t fret — the 2021 model year offers more choice for the same price.

Magnetic Selective Ride, previously only available with the Z51 package, can now be selected without selecting the entire trim package. New for 2021 is a standard Buckle to Drive system, which when activated, will not allow your dad to shift out of park if the seat belt is not buckled up.

There are also two new exterior colours, Silver Flare Metallic and Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat. The interior also receives a new look with a Sky Cool Gray/Yellow Strike scheme. Dual stripes can also be added in Blue, Orange, Red, and Yellow colours, while Stinger Stripes can come in either Carbon Flash/Edge Red, Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow, or Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver.

Also new on the interior front is standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The engine remains unchanged; it’s still a 6.2-litre V8 connected to an eight-speed DCT. Soon to be available will be a suite of performance models such as the Z06 and the ZL1.

In the U.S., the price remains the same for the 2021 model year, at US$59,995 for the coupe and US$67,495 for the convertible. We hope Chevy can keep the costs down for Canada as well.
